Xedge's Live-In Caregivers

---

• ​We provide a spectrum of Trained, Skillful and/or Experienced Live-in Caregivers for households from Elder-care helpers (Entry-level Caregivers) to Specialised Caregivers.
• Elder-care helpers are able to assist the elderly in the Activities of Daily Living while Specilaised caregivers have specialised skill sets (such as Tube Feeding, Suctioning, Urinary Catheter Care, Stoma Care etc.).
• Some caregivers have experience in managing specific medical conditions such as dementia, Parkinson, stroke, cancer and heart issues.
• ​They come from Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Myanmar. ​
• ​Our Live-in Caregivers all have experience and/or have formal training

​Trained, Skillful and/or Experienced ​

• Our caregivers / private nurses have formal training (BSN, Diploma in Nursing, Nursing Aide Certificate, Caregiver Certificate) and/or experiences in taking care of the elderly. 
• For nurses, they would have received at least 3 years of formal nursing education, with practical training and experience in hospitals and other medical facilities. For caregivers, they would have attended some months of formal nursing aide or caregiver training courses.
• Most of our caregivers undergo refresher nursing skills training and language training at our partners' training centres before deployment. We have training centres in Myanmar and Indonesia.
• Our Live-In Caregivers are trained and/or experienced to provide the following basic care services :

          –    Mobility Assistance
          –    Transferring and Positioning
          –    Personal Hygiene such as Bathing 
          –    Toileting and Incontinence Care
          –    Medication reminders
          –    Feeding and Special Diet
          –    Meal Preparation
          –    Light Housekeeping & laundry
          –    Grocery Shopping

• ​We also provide specialised caregivers who specialize in taking care of our elderly with the following conditions:

          -     Parkinson
          -     Alzheimer
          -     Dementia
          -     Stroke and other Heart Disease
          -     Cancer
          -     Palliative 

​Speak Mandarin, English, Malay, Tamil and/or Dialects

• Our caregivers speak various languages such as Mandarin, English, Chinese, Malay and/or Dialects. They have acquired these languages in their previous work in Taiwan, Hong Kong. Malaysia etc. or have learned the languages in our training centres in Indonesia and Myanmar.
• ​​As the caregiver is in constant contact with the care recipient, the ability to communicate effectively with one another is very important. This will hopefully establish a bond between the caregiver and care recipient, allowing care and support to be given easily. This will also avoid misunderstanding especially on instructions being passed down to the caregiver. 

Positive Attitude to Care for Elderly

• ​​Our caregivers have the positive attitude and willingness to look after the elderly. As it  might not an easy task to look after the elderly, the caregiver with the right attitude in wanting to take care of the elderly will help the caregiver overcome various issues she might face in her job. 

Continuous Training for Xedge's Caregivers

​We provide a monthly training session (on a Sunday) by our Nursing Team for all our Xedge's Caregivers to:

• Provide continuous training and education to keep our caregivers abreast of the latest developments in care-giving and to upgrade the skills of our caregivers 
• Provide a platform for our caregivers to seek advice (if any) about the conditions of their care recipients from our nursing team
• Social interaction and support among the caregivers

Eldercare Helpers

Eldercare helpers can assist elderly who requires some assistance in Activities of Daily Living (ADL). The Foreign Domestic Worker (whose job scope is mainly household chores) will typically undergo a few days of eldercare training before being deployed to the households.. This training ensures that the FDW is equipped with the basic skills to care for your loved ones.

​Our ElderCare Helpers are carefully selected based on:

• willingness and positive attitude in looking after the elderly
• communication skills (some are able to converse in simple Mandarin, English, Malay or other dialects)
• ​pleasant disposition
